Casino Oostende, the largest casino on Belgium’s Flemish coast, has successfully handled the effects brought by the 2011 smoking ban. This regulation prohibited smoking on the gaming floors, requiring the casino to adapt. When new management took over in 2021, they inherited QleanAir’s smoking cabins that had been installed to comply with this regulation. By expanding the number of these cabins, the casino has catered to both smoking and non-smoking guests – ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone.

Situated in the vibrant city of Ostend, Casino Oostende benefits from a steady influx of visitors throughout the year, attracting around 275,000 guests annually. The casino’s commitment to a welcoming atmosphere is reinforced by a strong loyalty program and a dedicated team of 100 full-time staff.

Navigating the smoking ban with inherited cabins

The introduction of smoking cabins at Casino Oostende began with the 2021 change in ownership. The QleanAir cabins, already in place to address the 2011 smoking ban, proved to be a crucial solution. Initially, separate smoking rooms were used, but their air filtration systems failed to eliminate smoke odor effectively. QleanAir’s cabins, however, contain and remove smoke. This capability was vital as the casino planned to expand its gaming floor. To further enhance guest satisfaction, the management reached out to QleanAir to increase the number of cabins.

The partnership with QleanAir has been highly successful. QleanAir provides reliable service under a contract that includes monthly maintenance and quick response when cabins reach capacity. By offering a premium service, its quality and reliability align with the casino’s standards. Casino Oostende currently has six QleanAir smoking cabins, with plans to add three more in the next four months. Two will be for employees to enhance their working environment, and one will serve the new slots room under construction.
