High-Performance Air Cleaning

We believe in the power of clean air – and in technology that makes a real difference

With more than 30 years of experience, we develop air cleaning solutions based on deep engineering expertise. Through mechanical multi-stage filtration, energy-efficient systems, and controlled airflow, we create reliable solutions that deliver high air cleaning capacity and stable performance over time.

Our technology is built on needs-driven innovation and proven principles. It forms the foundation of the air cleaning solutions we develop in close collaboration with our customers – for environments where clean air is essential for people, products, and operations.

Discover our technology – and how it makes a difference.

Six principles that define our technology

The true effectiveness of an air cleaner depends on how multiple technical factors work together. That is why we develop our products based on six principles that collectively ensure stable performance and a high volume of clean air per dollar invested.

  • Mechanical filtration – safe and effective particle removal
  • Carbon filtration – effective gas removal without generating by-products
  • Automatic airflow control – stable performance over time
  • System efficiency – airtight systems without leakage
  • Energy efficiency – low energy consumption and excellent total cost of ownership
  • Low noise levels – enabling continuous operation without disrupting the workplace

Mechanical filtration cleans indoor air most effectively

Our air cleaning solutions use mechanical filtration, a technology in which particles are captured through, for example, fine fiber media. There are different types of mechanical particle filters designed for different applications and classified according to their filtration efficiency under standards such as ISO 16890, ISO 29463, and EN 1822 in Europe. We typically use two or more filtration stages. This provides increased safety, higher capacity, and improved operating economy.

The pre-filter is a coarser filter, such as metal mesh or nylon, that captures large particles including pollen and dust. Behind it is a finer filter that captures smaller particles. These finer filters are typically EPA- or HEPA-classified according to EN 1822, offering high guaranteed filtration efficiency that is maintained over time. All HEPA filters are individually tested and certified to ensure performance.

Carbon filtration – effective gas removal without generating by-products

For odors and gases, we use carbon filters containing activated or impregnated carbon, depending on the application. Carbon filtration was at the core of our very first products, our smoking cabins, making it a thoroughly proven technology. Compared with other technologies, the key advantage is that no harmful by-products are created or released.

Automatic airflow control ensures consistent airflow

The effectiveness of an air cleaner is determined by the combination of airflow and filtration efficiency. As the filter becomes loaded with particles, airflow resistance increases and airflow decreases. QleanAir solves this by automatically compensating for the increased resistance. The fan gradually increases its speed to maintain the same airflow. When no further compensation is possible, it is time to replace the filter.

Regardless of whether an air cleaner has this feature, it is important that it includes a warning system indicating when airflow becomes too low, the pressure drop across the filter becomes too high, and a filter replacement is required.

System efficiency built on engineering excellence

Another factor that determines the overall performance of an air cleaner is what we call system efficiency. To maximize filter performance, the entire system must be airtight and the airflow must be properly matched to the filter, since air will always follow the path of least resistance. If leakage occurs, the air cleaner will contribute to the spread of unfiltered air rather than preventing it.

Our air cleaners have third-party verified filtration performance equivalent to the filter itself, reaching up to 99.995%, which, according to our information, is market-leading.

Energy efficiency for the best possible total cost of ownership

We exclusively use EC fans in our air cleaners and smoking cabins. These fans offer high efficiency and low heat generation. They are more energy-efficient and require less maintenance than traditional fans, providing excellent total cost of ownership for every installation.

In addition, we select energy-efficient filters with lower airflow resistance than simpler alternatives. Lower resistance results in reduced energy consumption while extending the lifespan of both the filters and the equipment, as the fan is subjected to less wear and tear.

Low noise levels enable continuous operation

Our air cleaners are designed to deliver high airflow without disruptive noise or turbulence. An air cleaner that is turned off because it is too noisy defeats its purpose and becomes an expensive investment.

We are one of the few companies whose air cleaners meet the expert recommendations of the German engineering association VDI for air cleaners used in schools and offices.
