In industry, safety and the work environment are constantly relevant issues. A lot of focus is naturally placed on risks that are easy to detect, but for TreMek, modern work environment management is also about preventing things that are not always visible, but can affect the work environment over time.
TreMek Onsite offers mechanical installations, technical pipe installations, service, and maintenance to customers in sectors such as the energy, pharmaceutical, food, and process industries. Quality, long-term commitment, and safety are central parts of the business, and the work environment has been a priority issue since the start in Malmö.
“We want to be at the forefront when it comes to the work environment and safety. Everything from indoor air quality and protective equipment to training and information is part of our systematic work environment management,” says Rickard Johansson, Chief Operating Officer at TreMek.
The work environment as an investment, not a cost
Operations in the workshop include welding, grinding, and cutting, work processes that generate welding fumes and airborne particles. Despite existing ventilation, local exhaust ventilation, and personal protective equipment, the company saw opportunities to strengthen the work environment further.
“Many of the risks in industry are not always immediately noticeable. It is often a matter of things that can affect the work environment over time.”
To complement existing protective measures, TreMek installed several floor-standing industrial air cleaners from QleanAir Scandinavia, tailored for welding fumes and grinding dust, which were placed close to the work operations where particles are generated.
“We have both general ventilation and local exhaust ventilation, but the general ventilation is located high up in the facility while we work and breathe down at floor level. That is why we saw floor-standing air cleaners as a strong supplement to create an even better work environment.”
When the invisible becomes visible
Through the filters, it became clear how many particles are captured before spreading further into the workshop environment.
“There is a visual filter in the units where you clearly see what is collected. It becomes very concrete proof that the air cleaning makes a difference.”
Attractive workplaces are built over time
According to Rickard Johansson, work environment issues are becoming increasingly important for industrial companies looking to attract and retain talent.
“An employer that shows they care about their employees also becomes a workplace where people want to stay. Bright premises, good ventilation, and clean air contribute to a better workday.”
More convenient smoking breaks in a security-restricted environment
As part of its broader work environment efforts, TreMek has also installed a smoking cabin from QleanAir on the premises.
Because the business is located within a security-restricted area, the solution became a practical way to create a smooth daily routine for both smokers and non-smokers. Employees do not need to leave the area to take a smoking break, which saves time while allowing smokers and non-smokers to continue socializing during breaks without anyone being exposed to secondhand smoke, contributing to both camaraderie and a natural exchange of information between colleagues.

Clean air as a service
When TreMek selected a supplier, finding a partner that could offer local support, ongoing service, and end-to-end responsibility for the solution was important.
“We have a lot to keep track of in the business. That is why we appreciate that service and maintenance run smoothly and that we receive the information we need. It is one less concern in daily operations.”
With regular service and filter replacements, QleanAir ensures that the air cleaners function properly and deliver consistently clean air over time, without TreMek needing to plan or manage maintenance themselves.
The work environment of the future is all about the big picture
For TreMek, the work environment is an ongoing effort where ventilation, local exhaust ventilation, personal protective equipment, and air cleaning together contribute to a safe, attractive, and sustainable workplace.
