When TreMek moved into its current premises, a specific challenge arose. Operations are conducted within a security-restricted area where it is not possible to smoke outdoors in the same way as at a traditional industrial facility.

Today, the smoking cabin is used daily and has become a natural part of operations. In addition to simplifying smoke breaks, smoking, cigarette butts, and waste are gathered in a single place. At the same time, smokers and non-smokers can continue to socialize during breaks without anyone being exposed to secondhand smoke, strengthening team spirit and daily information sharing among colleagues.
Work environment as an investment, not a cost

As part of these efforts, the company has also invested in floor-standing air cleaners from QleanAir to complement ventilation, local exhaust ventilation, and personal protective equipment in the workshop.
“We have both general ventilation and local exhaust ventilation, but the general ventilation is located high up in the facility while we work and breathe down at floor level. That’s why we saw the floor-standing air cleaners as a strong complement to create an even better work environment.”
Through the filters, it also became clear how many particles are captured before they spread further into the workshop environment.
“There is a visible filter on the machines where you can clearly see what is collected. It serves as very tangible proof that the air cleaning makes a difference.”
