Hillerstorps Special Emballage (HSE) manufactures custom-made wooden pallets and packaging. As the business has grown and the facilities have expanded, the need for effective industrial air cleaners for the wood industry has become increasingly important. In the large production facility in Hillerstorp, southern Sweden, employees work spread out across the premises. In wood processing and woodworking, however, wood dust and airborne particles naturally arise in most processes. Even though the production area is extensive, particles in the air became noticeable after the machines had been running throughout the day – something that was particularly evident for employees working evening and night shifts.

The decision to take action

When HSE grew and expanded its facilities, the company was contacted by several suppliers of industrial air purifiers for woodworking and wood processing. For Erik and the management team, it was about paying attention to what they observed in the factory environment and taking action before wood dust in the air became a problem for the work environment.

“When dust and particles become visible in the air, you know it’s something that needs to be addressed. We want to stay one step ahead when it comes to the work environment, so we started looking at air purifiers for the wood industry as an option,” says Erik.

Visible results and smooth service

The difference in the facility was noticeable shortly after the installation of the industrial air purifiers, especially at higher levels where dust had previously accumulated. Three years into the collaboration with QleanAir, the air is noticeably cleaner, and the need for cleaning beams and roof trusses has decreased.

“We deep-clean the production area once or twice a year, but after installing air cleaners from QleanAir, we have significantly less dust on roof trusses and beams. You can clearly see that the air purifiers are doing their job. When we change the filters, they are very full, which makes it clear that all this dust would otherwise have been in the air that our employees breathe,” says Erik.

Service and ongoing maintenance are handled smoothly and without disrupting daily production.

“QleanAir’s service technicians come in, do their work quickly and without disturbing production, and shortly after we receive a service report. It’s simple, professional, and doesn’t require much effort from us,” Erik says.

The fact that the solution has delivered according to expectations is confirmed by HSE’s recent decision to extend the collaboration.
